Frequently Asked Questions

There are two main deductions from an adjuster's estimate of what your roof will cost. The first is your deductible. The second is for "Betterment or Depreciation."

We can repair any roof – from securing loose shingles or flashing, replacing missing or damaged shingles, to rebedding ridge caps, to replacing water-damaged roof decks. Best Roofing Now has a team of experienced roofing contractors who can repair any roof damage you may be experiencing.

The pricing for new roofs depends primarily on the square footage of the roof surface, the type of material you choose (asphalt, metal, cedar shakes, tile, etc), and the complexity of your roof (dormers, steep angles, etc.) Because we've been installing new roofs in the North Carolina's Piedmont Region area for years, we have the experience and resources to help you decide on a quality roof solution that will suit your budget.

Yes! We have years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing the membrane roofs and steel roofs most often used for large, flat surfaces. Whether you want to know your options for a full replacement or simply need your roof repaired because you've discovered a water leak or other damage, Best Roofing Now can help. We will also help you develop a regular roof maintenance plan to help extend the lifespan of your roof.

RCV stands for Replacement Cost Value. RCV is the current retail cost to replace your damaged items. ACV is the Actual Cost Value. For example, assume a roof in year 10 of an expected 20-year life is totaled by hail. The cost to replace the roof is $10,000 Then RCV would be 10,000 and the ACV would be $5,000 (10/20th of $10,000). The difference between the two, $5,000, is the depreciation which is additional funds you will receive. Generally, depreciation is paid after you submit a final invoice.

Yes! Our experienced, licensed roofers will inspect your roof up close to assess the scope of any obvious damage and also map out the probable unseen damage just below the surface. With that knowledge at hand, we will let you know if roof repair is the most affordable option or if you're better off with a full roof replacement.

Each shingle brand provides a different guideline for how long they expect their shingles to last. A properly installed roof will generally last up to 15 years with regular maintenance and inspection, especially after severe weather events.

Commercial buildings are often tenanted by multiple individuals or businesses. Best Roofing Now takes this into account when tackling any commercial roofing job that houses multiple tenants. We can work with their schedules or needs to accommodate the continuation of business operations as much as possible.

No. There are many human factors in this process. It is common that your contractor and adjuster will need to reconcile a few items. You should never be concerned that your estimate from Best Roofing Now is different than your adjuster's. The main cost factor in a shingle is asphalt which is petroleum. With the price of oil going crazy, shingle prices have changed almost monthly this year.

Damaged roofs cause roof leaks, which creates a dangerous water and moisture problem in the house below. Whether the roof damage was caused by hail or fallen trees to simply granule loss due to aging roof shingles, prompt attention and repair will avoid further, more costly damage down the road.

While there could be some initial cost-saving in laying new shingles over an old, aged roof, we generally don't recommend re-roofing. Old shingles also mean an old roof deck. By tearing off the old shingles, our licensed roofing contractor will then be able to spot any areas of instability or damage to the roof deck that may have been hidden by the shingles. We can replace any sections where there may be wood rot. Roof installation techniques and materials have also changed over the last couple of decades, and your old roof may not be up to code. "Re-roof" jobs may also not carry the same warranties as a full replacement.

Not many can. A membrane or metal commercial roof system generally requires a different set of equipment, specialized materials, and expertise. From asphalt emulsion-based systems to built-up and mod-bit systems to galvanized steel, commercial roofs require a different skill set than that of a roofer more used to dealing with residences. Best Roofing Now is the company to choose in North Carolina's Piedmont Region when you want to "go local" and choose the best commercial roofing company at the same time.

It is always your deductible plus upgrades if any.

No. Your deductible always comes first. You only save your insurance company money by choosing a cheap contractor. When you submit an invoice that is lower than what the adjuster calculated, this will lower the amount of depreciation you will later be paid.

It is very improper to cover a deductible. A reputable contractor will not do this.  Check the BBB or COC.

It can be, but generally, it is just a disguise for "covering a deductible." To be legitimate, this fee must be the same if you buy a roof or not. It also would need to be reported as taxable income.

Not long. By law, they must release these funds in a few days.
